Renée M. Hanrahan
Director of Community Benefit, Via Christi Health, Inc.

Renée has more than 30 years of experience in the non-profit field as an employee, consultant and volunteer. For the last eight years, she has served as the Director of Community Benefit for Via Christi Health. Via Christi Health is the largest comprehensive health care provider in Kansas and employs nearly 10,000 people.

Currently she serves on the Catholic Health Association’s National Community Benefit Committee and their “What Counts” Task Force, Lyon Software Community Benefit Inventory of Social Accountability (CBISA) Steering Committee, and Ascension Health’s Community Health Initiatives Steering Committee. She is one of a few community benefit professionals in the country who earned the St Louis University’s Community Benefit certificate in 2011.

Renée is a Wichita, Kansas native and a graduate of Wichita State University with a BA in psychology and a MA in sociology. She studied for her doctorate in sociology focusing on research, medical and aging at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.

Knowing what to count for community benefit and assisting staff reporters to fully report their activities can be challenging. This session will share a comprehensive tool that can be used to teach Community Benefit reporters what to count as community benefit and where best to place each occurrence in the CBISA (Community Benefit Inventory of Social Accountability) database using Catholic Health Association’s Guide and Lyon Software’s structure.
